I’m the girl behind the chair and the heart behind Dani Hair Studio.

I’ve always been a creative person, but it took me a little while to figure out exactly where that creativity belonged. I went to college without a clear idea of what I wanted to do, worked a handful of different jobs, and eventually found my way to cosmetology school. Looking back, it feels pretty obvious that this was where I was supposed to end up.

I started my career assisting in a salon for $10 an hour, slowly built my clientele, took the leap into working independently, and eventually created Dani Hair Studio. Eight years later, I still genuinely love what I do.

And surprisingly, the hair is only part of it.

I love the relationships that come with being a hairstylist. My chair has become a place for catching up, laughing until our stomachs hurt, celebrating huge life moments, talking through the hard stuff, or sometimes just enjoying a few quiet hours away from real life. I get to watch people move through different seasons of their lives, and I feel incredibly lucky that so many of my clients have trusted me to be a tiny part of them.

Outside the Salon

When I’m not behind the chair, I’m probably with my little crew of animals. I’m a very proud dog and cat mom, and my golden retriever, Baker, is basically my shadow. If you sit in my chair long enough, you will absolutely hear a Baker story.

I love yoga, being outside, reading a book I can completely disappear into, going to concerts, drawing, painting, and pretty much anything that gives me an excuse to create something with my hands.

My friendships and family are a huge part of my life. I’m a girls’ girl through and through, and some of my favorite memories are the simplest ones—concerts with my girlfriends, long conversations, laughing over dinner, being outside together, or just showing up for each other through all the different seasons of life.

I’m also a little bit of a contradiction. I can spend hours meticulously formulating the perfect hair color and then completely wing the rest of my day. I love a plan, but I’m naturally pretty go-with-the-flow. I love being social, but I also love being home with my animals and a good book. And I will always have some new hobby, creative project, or idea that I’ve decided I absolutely need to try.

Behind My Chair

More than anything, I want you to feel like you can be yourself with me.

You never have to come to your appointment ready to make small talk. Some days we’ll talk for three hours straight. Some days you might want to read, work, scroll on your phone, or just sit quietly while I do my thing. There’s room for all of it.

I want my chair to feel comfortable, judgment-free, and a little bit like catching up with an old friend—with the added bonus that you leave with really good hair.

This career has given me an outlet for my creativity, independence, an incredible community, and relationships with people I may have never met otherwise. I’m incredibly grateful that this is what I get to call my job.
